About Homeopathy
Many people in the U.K. nowadays are turning to homeopathy as alternative or complementary medicine. They are in good company. Many millions of people around the world already rely on homeopathic medicine for themselves and their families. Suitable for every stage of life, from childhood, through to adulthood, middle age and advancing years, homeopathy meets people's positive desire for health care that is naturally based. And it works.
The homeopathic approach to health
Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine that is used by millions of people around the world today. The term originally derives from the Greek words homeo meaning similar, and pathos, meaning suffering or disease. Homeopathic treatment focuses on 'the whole person', taking into account not only each individual's symptoms, but also their lifestyle, emotional and mental states, and their family and personal health history. Homeopathic medicine then uses very small doses of natural remedies that are carefully selected so that they match the individual's picture. It is these remedies that then act to stimulate the body's energy and develop a healing reaction.
How homeopathy can help you
How homeopathy can help you Homeopathy can treat many conditions effectively. The range of conditions that can be helped extends from purely physical illnesses, through to more emotional or psychological conditions, and from acute sudden-onset problems or 'infections' through to more chronic conditions that may have been around for some considerable period of time. It is hard to be prescriptive about the list of conditions of types of illness that can be treated. However, examples include:
- allergies;
- bone problems including arthritic conditions and injuries;
- neuralgic and nerve-linked issues;
- bowel and digestive problems;
- circulatory complaints;
- eyes-ear-nose-throat problems;
- reproductive, menstrual and menopausal difficulties;
- urinary tract and kidney problems;
- sleep disorders;
- stress-related difficulties;
- respiratory conditions; and
- skin problems.
In addition, treatment can be helpful for emotional problems such as stress, anxiety and depression, mood swings, fears and phobias, panic attacks, bereavement and grief, and shock or emotional trauma. Treatment can also be very supportive during pregnancy.
Homeopathy can be of benefit in a number of other situations too: perhaps where a client is feeling 'unwell' but this has not produced a conclusive diagnosis; where there have been repeated episodes of acute illnesses; where the side effects of conventional medication for a condition are unpleasant and troublesome; or where there is a long-term chronic and progressive condition.
