Supporting your treatment
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
This is an increasingly recognised and clinically researched programme of support that can be helpful for people who are experiencing stress from a wide variety of sources, for example as the result of a chronic or long-term condition they have been coping with, or perhaps as the result of work or family pressures.
With mindfulness practice, participants are taught to bring their attention to the present moment, but without being pulled into the emotional reactions that this would normally trigger for them. People who practice mindfulness techniques report, amongst other things, better ability to handle stress, reduced anxiety, better sleep quality, improved relationships, and a general overall improvement in health and well-being.
The programme I offer is spread over 8 weekly short sessions, with the requirement for home practice alongside these. Individual and small group programmes can also be arranged.
Hypnotherapy and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)
As a qualified hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner, I am able to offer advice and sessions on hypnotherapy and NLP to support your treatment. In some cases and for some people, hypnotherapy and NLP can be a quick and effective catalyst for personal change, whether this involves changing a habit, dealing with fears and phobias, tackling emotional problems or improving confidence. Sessions may also be helpful as part of a wider strategy to tackle certain physical complaints such as IBS and digestive problems, asthma, migraines, or background pain for example associated with arthritic conditions.
Signposting
Many people receiving homeopathic treatment find that it can help to develop a network of advice and support, a bit like having a 'personal health care team'. As part of the process of progress review, I like to look at personal health strategies with clients, and in this context it may be appropriate now and again to consider making a referral by signposting in the direction of other health care practitioners. The nature of any signposting will always depend on the client's needs, and advice can be offered on this. Any formal referrals that follow on from signposting will always be at the client's request. Examples of frequently requested signposting include chiropractic treatment, osteopathy, nutrition advice, and counselling. Specific testing, for example on allergies or blood pressure, may be suggested for some people.
